What is Peace?

Looking at the subject above, it is good to know the meaning of Peace. Peace is Freedom from disturbance, Harmony, Tranquillity.

What is a Family?

A Family is a group of one or more Parents and their Children living together as a Unit. I highlighted “Unit” because for a Family to have Peace at home, they must dwell together in Unity. Every Family needs Peace in their homes for them to have Healthy Homes.

What does the Bible say about peace?

Peace is something everyone wants, yet few seem to find it.

Bringing Jesus Christ into our homes brings the Prince of Peace into our homes. Make Him the centre and king in your home. This is the most powerful first step to creating and keeping Peace at home. The word peace is found 429 times in the King James Version of the Bible. There are different types of peace, including false peace, inner peace, peace with God, and peace with man.

Peace is directly related to the actions and attitudes of individuals; but it is ultimately a gift from God (Isaiah 45:7; Leviticus 26:6; John 14:27). The presence of peace indicates God’s blessing on man’s Obedience (Isaiah 32:17; Malachi 2:5) and Faith (Isaiah 26:3).

God commands us to seek peace (Psalm 34:14; Matthew 5:9). We should “make every effort to do what leads to peace in our Family” Romans 14:19. There may be some people in the Family who do not desire peace, but we are still to do our utmost to be at peace with them Romans 12:18.

As Christians, we have an obligation to “let the peace of God rule” in our hearts Colossians 3:15. This means we have the choice either to trust God’s promises (letting His peace rule) or to rely on ourselves and reject the peace He offers. I pray God will help us to be obedient to His words in Jesus Name. God will give His peace to those who trust Him. Once His peace rules in our hearts, we are able to share that peace with others; we become publishers of peace in our various homes – Isaiah 52:7

How To Create Peace In Your Family?

Creating a peaceful home is a spiritual act. As Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God”- Matthew 5:9.

As followers of Christ, we are called to live peacefully with everyone. Romans 12:18

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. So what does this mean when the kids are fighting and the baby is screaming? To let the peace of Christ rule means to draw your focus on Christ, who is stable, solid, full of peace and love. So that in the chaos all around you, you don’t react negatively. Instead, you let that firmly rooted peace of Christ guide your actions and words. May God plant His Peace in our homes in Jesus name. Amen
