Peace Be Still – Poem

The waves of my heart roared through the night
Fear, despair, confusion – all in sight
Which way – left or right?

The waves of my heart roared through the night
Fear, despair, confusion – all in sight
Which way – left or right?

I’m drowning in the midst of despair
Broken, dejected, beyond repair
Does God even care?

Calamity upon Calamity
I’m on the verge of insanity
What is blasphemy?

I’ve prayed and cried to no avail
I’m Jonah – trapped in a whale
Will I even live to tell the tale?

Then a small, still voice
PEACE BE STILL
What waitest though? Rejoice
I can feel the thrill

The storm has ceased
Once again, I have found peace
In none other than my Saviour
Despite my doubt-filled behaviour

Just when I thought
This is end, after I’ve toiled and fought
He brought me peace in the midst of the storm
His love for me so caring and warm

I’ll open my Bible
I’ll praise His name
GOD – is not just a title
Sing it loud to the world and proclaim

He brings hope to the lost
He hears our prayers
No matter the price or the cost
He delivers us from the storm and wipes all our tears
